COUNCIL MEETINGS

Regular meetings – 1st Tuesday of every month except July/August at 7:00 a.m. – 3rd Thursday every month - Council Chambers - Memorial Hall.  Public attendance is welcome.

 

TRANSFER STATION

Transfer Station hours are Monday, Wednesday, Friday from 1pm to 4pm and Saturdays 11 am to 4 pm.  Closed on holidays.  Used oil, filters and containers may be left there during normal hours.  See the website for information on what can be brought in. Contact Attendant at 204-745-2210. Located 1 mile South on 3, 1 mile West from Lights at P.R 245 and Hwy 13.

 

 

RESIDENTIAL GARBAGE PICK-UP

Every other Thursday, Zones 1 and 2 rotate

Pick up by bins from MWM Environmental.

Calendar is available on the town website.

 

 

RESIDENTIAL RECYCLING

Every other Wednesday, Zones 1 and 2 rotate

Pick up by bins from MWM Environmental

The calendar is on the town website.  One blue bin has been given to each household. For units larger than 4 units pickup must be arranged directly with MWM Environmental.  If there is not one at your residence, you may call MWM to determine if you are eligible.

 

 

RESIDENTIAL COMPOST

From April to November, it is weekly on Mondays. Items not allowed to be burnt, such as leaves, grass clippings, garden waste are welcomed at the community compost site located at the Transfer Station.  Compost material is available for pick up.  Branches may be left in a separate pile at the compost site for chipping.  These are also available for use.  Branches may also be taken to the Transfer Station for burning.

 

 

WATER BILLS

Mailed quarterly, due at the end of each of the following months: January, April, July, October.

 

TAX BILLS

Receive your Tax bill in the mail by July 15th. Due the last business day of August Annually. Contact town office if you do not receive by August.

 

PRE-AUTHORIZED PAYMENTS

Are accepted by the Town of Carman for Tax and Water bills.  Forms may be picked up at the Town Office or on the Town of Carman Website.  https://carmandufferin.com/

BUILDING PERMITS

Permits are required for building renovations over $20,000, any new residential or commercial building, garages, accessory buildings over 107 sq ft, additions, decks, swimming pools, or signs.  A demolition permit is required for demolition of any building or structure or part thereof.  Remember that the homeowner or contractor must contact the Planning Office at least 2 weeks before work begins for a permit.  Contact Information 204-745-2509 or office@cdgplanning.com 

 

 

ANIMALS

By Law No. 2077 regulates animals within the Town of Carman.  All animals must be vaccinated and licensed annually.  License Fee is $15.00 per animal and due January 1st.  Current rabies tag number is required.

 

SNOW REMOVAL PARKING

As per by-law 2091 parking is not allowed on any street from 9:00 pm to 6:00 am. November 1st to March 31st to facilitate snow removal.  Towing will be enforced.

 

 

GRASS CLIPPINGS ON STREET

Clippings can block sewer drain openings prohibiting rainwater from escaping.  Please ensure when cutting grass, the cuttings are blown onto your yard instead of onto the street.
