Your Local Government Handbook
Registration
Prospective municipal election candidates must register with the Senior Election Official (SEO) during the registration period before they may begin to accept contributions, incur expenses, fundraise, or borrow money for their campaign. NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that I will be receiving candidate registrations:
For the office of Reeve: Between May 1, 2026 and September 22, 2026
For the office of Councillor: Between June 30, 2026 and September 22, 2026
at the Town of Carman office, 12-2nd Avenue S.W. Carman, Manitoba during the regular hours of business, Monday to Friday 8:30 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. and 1:00 p.m. to 4:30 p.m.

Nominations
Nominations for all registered candidates begin September 16th, 2026, and the nomination deadline is September 22nd, 2026, at 4:30 p.m. Nominations cannot be accepted after this day.
You must submit your nomination papers in person during that week. If you are unable to do so, you may designate someone to submit them on your behalf; however, additional paperwork will be required.
The Voters List
The Voters List is available to all registered candidates to be used for Election Campaigning purposes only, the list will continue to be updated until the closing of Nominations which is September 22nd, 2026. To obtain a revised or updated voters list you must first return the voters list that was given to you when you registered. Please ensure that you return the Voters list immediately after the election, but no later than December 31st, 2026.
Withdrawal of Candidate
Withdrawal of Candidate must occur on or before September 23rd, 2026
Ballot Name Ordering will be Random
The Date, Time & Location of the Ballot Name ordering will be September 24th, 2026 at 9:00 am at the Municipal Office at 12-2nd Ave SW, Carman, MB. The Names will be drawn randomly.
Election Finance Statements
For information on Election Finance Statements and accepting campaign contributions, please reference the Town of Carman's Campaign Finance By-La . Election Finance Statements must be filed immediately after the election, but no later than December 31st, 2026. Regardless if you have or haven’t accepted contributions, incurred expenses, fundraised or borrowed money for their campaign you must file your Election Finance Statements. Failure to do so may effect your ability to run in the next election.

Orientation of Council all day – Thursday, November 3rd, 2026 at 10:00 a.m.
Inaugural Meeting of Council - Thursday, November 3rd, 2026 at 5:00 pm
